WHAT? They didn’t pick BMW? BMW ALWAYS WINS Car and Driver comparisons!!! BMW and Honda always!

Funny to see Chrysler beat BMW. And 94k for a C-class?

car mags are written for car people. a car enthusiast will put up with a car which catches fire every other day and breaks major mechanical parts in between, if they like the way the car drives enough.

but the other issue is that Car and Driver isn’t anything like it used to be. Back up through the ‘90s or so it was staffed by real car guys. Not just Brock Yates, but guys like Csaba Csere and Patrick Bedard, who spent years as automotive engineers before going into the autojourno business. Ever since they stooped so low as to hire that petty jackass Dan Pund, and made him their deputy editor, they’re fucking worthless. it seems like anybody of value is at Road & Track now.

The C7 went through two engines with one publication, so it’s not like praise for problematic cars is unusual. The C7Z overheated more than once on MT, and not on the track, just normal highway use.

Unfortunately for Alfa, they want to sell cars to people with $70k to spend on a car, not enthusiasts, which means that isn’t going to fly. How many people in their target demographic would have had an OBDII on hand to clear those codes?

I’m sure Freddy already has a post written to go live four years from now for when you can pick up an Alfa for the price of a new Corolla.

So the verdict is that it’s better than the German options, until it breaks, which will be soon.

Sounds like accurate reporting to me.

yeah, no shit. they actually printed this:

“Alfa should include an OBD II scanner as standard equipment, and customers should consider themselves part of the development team.”

and gave it first place.

I wanted to like this car so much but I just can’t get around it being an FCA product. They make cool cars but what good is a cool car that breaks down all the time.

1. At least we know it’s a genuine Alfa lol

2. Reassuring evidence FCA hasn’t tried to mess with Alfa’s soul.

3. Reminder why Alfa is “returning” to the U.S. market; as in, why they were gone for, like, 20 years...
