As you all know, the dealership suggested both my wife’s CX-5 and my 6 needed engine air filter and cabin air filter replacements  the other day when I had their oil changes and tire rotations done. Needless to say, they quoted me an outrageous price (around $200.00 total for both cars to get both their filters done). I found these on Amazon and they are wonderful quality at an amazing price. Replaced them all today. Pictured is my 2016 Mazda6's factory cabin air filter. This is at 14,955 miles and 16 months. Yuck! Remember your cabin air filters, folks! It’s especially important for those of us that have children in our cars regularly.

In other news, the CX-5 and 6 take the same air filters all around. And to change the cabin air filter takes 2 minutes since you just have to pull the glove box down a bit. Convenient!

Should’ve got the K&N filter for SO MUCH POWAAAA (+0.3hp)

The 5 is a bit of a pain since it has a battery cooling duct over the panel box. So there’s a few plastic screws to break... I mean properly remove

I had Hyundai do the same thing. I love how they parade the filter from your car out to you to show you how dirty it is. They have already done the labor to remove it, and they will do the labor of putting it back in when I elect not to have them do the service. So they have done the labor part at no charge because I did not have them do the service. They want close to $100 for the part and labor. I walked over to the parts counter, bought the filter for $14 and put it in before I even left. So they wanted $86 for the labor they were already doing, seriously? What a joke.

The battery is near the firewall and is in a lidded plastic box and from the front of the bay just under the hood is a duct to that box.

I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow maybe.

most of our service customers don’t care and certainly don’t want to pay extra when dropping their cars off. :/
