Kinja'd!!!

geoff is an injured cat that seems to be a stray. I feed him and gave him the cardboard box seen in the back of the photo with a blanket covering it to live in. Today I decided he needed an upgrade in habitation. So now I made him a omaha steak cooler for a house.
-water proof

-super insulated
now we wait to see if he approves and we can sign the papers and get him moved in. should go smoothly since the contract is the same as always. I feed him and give him water and pet him when he allows and he can ran away from me when he feels like it.

This makes me happy :)

I have a couple ferals that I had fixed and keep around to keep everything else out of my yard. They got an igloo dog house from the thrift store this winter and love it.

They’re friendly and I can pet them but they flip out in the house, so this makes us all a little happier.

(Also, Geoff is such a respectable name...I have Biscuit and Piggy).

haha yeah I picked it because it seems so ridiculous to have such a formal name for a homeless injured cat.

I would love to bring him inside because he seems friendly but he only lets me pet him when he is eating. also he still has testicles and might try shenanigans with our indoor female cat even though she is spayed plus there are diseases to worry about.

hahaha I thought that might be too much for one cat to live up to! I admit that is where I got the idea from.

Better than cardboard for sure. Watch out for that blanket getting wet, if you can find some straw, it would absorb less water.

Does your town have a TNR program? It’s not ideal to have neutered cats running around.

Yeah. Neighbors and the vet will probably understand the name Geoff a little better.

What a wonderful upgrade for Geoff. I would suggest replacing the blanket with straw, not hay. When Geoff comes in with snow on his paws and it melts into the blanket it is going to freeze and won’t keep him warm. It can be replaced every couple of weeks to keep everything nice and fresh. Putting the cooler in a plastic tote, such as a Rubbermaid, with a hole cut in the side will provide even more warmth. You can cover the cut edges with heavy duty tape. picture for reference

Experience: In high school, I spear-headed a TNR program with our local humane society and had nearly 3/4 of the community make community cat shelters. The majority of the original group are still involved and it has grown much larger today.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to use a tub but couldnt find one that didnt have car parts in it and the cooler wasnt being used since I have a yeti. I wish I had straw I would do that! I think the blanket will be ok it had been in the box for a long time and pulled it out today and there wasnt but a very little amount of ice on it where it poked out of the box.

Geoff looks as if, in typical feline fashion, he’s reserving judgement at this point

He is definitely considering whether our relationship will become one of friendship rather than me just giving him free food.

Geoff looks delightfully fuzzy! I always enjoy friendly stray cats. Especially the ones that will walk right into your lap if you sit down.
