Early this morning, I had a rather annoying person on my tail. This was someone who tried to put me into a guardrail and proceeded to verbally harass me and throw trash at my car when that deplorable plan failed.
This in itself isn’t too abnormal, I’ve lost count of all the people who have tried to run me off the road, kill me, vandalize my cars, and so on.
That said, I don’t like being concerned for my life on the road...I didn’t want to stop either, one day that might earn me a bullet to the head.
Since the cops never ever do anything about reckless driver reports, I decided to bring my harasser to the cops. I know of a speed trap at the bottom of a short, steep hill. This a great place for a speed trap as by the time you see the police car (sitting directly in the middle in the median), too late, you’re caught.
Once I established that my harasser was hellbent on following me wherever I went, I turned down the road with the speed trap. I dropped two gears and sped up to about 10-15 over the speed limit, hoping my harasser would take the bait and try to race me. He did. He blew by me at what I could only imagine was 40+ over the limit, giving me the finger and throwing a drink at me while doing so.
Joke’s on him though, I braked to the speed limit just in time. I crested the hill to see him still jetting down the road (probably looking back for me) and an unmarked Ford Explorer that was about to get a hefty payday. At the speed he was going, that’s definitely going to be a reckless driving charge.
Made it to work just on time...Ugh I hate Mondays.

Nowhere near as deliberate or expensive as yours, but I had a BMW on my ass leaving the Denver airport once and I’m generally careful about not speeding excessively there because there are cops at least 50% of the time. I may have slowed down more than normal to irritate this guy so he FLEW around me the second another lane opened up. He hadn’t even cleared my front bumper before there were blue lights behind him and I did the happy dance the rest of the way home.

Best that I’ve done is gotten a loon to follow me to a gas station where a cop was waiting. He then accused me of being ‘chicken shit’ for getting the cops involved. Didn’t go well for him - but that was probably 20 years ago. WHAT THE FUCK is with people harassing you like that? Glad you nailed the dumbass. Stay safe!!

I’ve only been attacked on the road once. A lady was driving too slow in the left and with plenty of space before I was on her bumper I flashed my highs twice (international symbol for passing) and she went ballistic. All over the road, I took off and she tried keeping up, but a semi was in the right lane so I though I lost her. NOPE! She passed the truck in the gutter and proceeded to throw a can at me. So having written down her lic plate I slowed and behind the semi truck and into a turn off to call the police. She kept speeding off. That was not fun.

I had someone ride my ass through an area crawling with cops. The speed limit was 35, they wouldn’t back off, so I dropped to 25. They passed in the median. They didn’t even bother to check the blatently obvious officer sitting at the next building down.

You should be asking “have you done anything even better?”
Also, you should have pulled in behind the cop and had a chat with him about the threatening and unsafe behavior this other driver demonstrated.

Around here, a huge number of drivers have the opposite problem, where they cross into the inside lane from the outside lane, even with traffic in both lanes. And most of the time, they have no idea why the driver of the car they are cutting off is upset.

It’s normal for me to experience some aggression of some kind on the road. As a test, I’ve removed all LGBTQ indicators from my car, no change. People still try to run me off the road, give me the finger, tailgate me, brake check me, etc.
And I have no idea why it happens. I think it’s unfathomable that someone would hate my car so much as to deliberately try to scare/hurt me, but it’s the only explanation that makes sense. I mean, a few of the times I’ve been attacked for being trans/gay or for being a POC, but other than those unique instances, the attacks are usually unwarranted.

That’s kinda how I felt when I got to work. xD I mean yeah, if this guy ever sees me again he’s going to be furious, but I had me a small victory that made my Monday. :)

Not sure why people hate me so much. As a test, I removed all “identifying” factors from my blue car (the one I drove on Monday), it still happened anyway. *shrug* I need a dashcam. lol

I will. Usually when someone gets unhinged like that, I take a different route home and a different route for a couple days. I’ve only been followed home (when I was living with my parents) once or twice since owning a smart. :o

Prior to today’s crazy world, I used to think the same. Why go out of your way to try to damage someone’s car? Why would you try to do what could effectively kill them? Though, now I’m not so sure anymore, seems there’s a never ending fountain of hate or stupidity somewhere.

I’ve done something similar, luring someone who had been tailgating me and driving like an asshat in general on the freeway into a known speed trap at the end of an exit ramp. A 70 MPH speed limit highway exits onto a three-lane frontage road on a gentle uphill with a 45 MPH limit and there is often a patrol car right over the crest of the hill about half a mile from the end of the ramp. This driver was being a pain in the butt, nearly hitting several others while changing lanes without signaling on the freeway, so I slowed wayyyyyy down on the ramp, drove about the same speed as the car in the lane next to me for a quarter mile, then finally slowed down and merged over a few hundred yards before the crest of the hill figuring he would punch it. Sure enough he did and I saw the blue lights as five seconds later as I cam over the hill. I waved. Sorry to hear about how you were treated though. I’ve had the typical tailgating, flashing light, being flipped off and shout at, but never anything like having something thrown at me from another vehicle. Do you think it is that people just think they can bully a small car? My wife seemed to think other drivers tried to run her off the road much more often when she had her Fit than she does now in the Outback.
