Bye bye motorcycle, hello new project?

I sold my motorcycle over the weekend. That 2005 Honda CBR 600RR will live on with a new owner. Will I miss it? That’s the odd bit. I don’t think I will.
I ’ ve had at least one motorcycle around since 2003. The CBR was purchased new and had it for 12 years; yet I ’ m OK with no motorcycle. and a car that ’ s well, not spectacular. I must be placing an awful lot of faith in the next vehicle project.

I’ve been thinking about an Exocet for a while. The thing that makes me wonder if it’s still a good idea is the lack of weather protection. I live in Seattle, so it’s often wet up here.
What options might I not be considering to get a really light, super fun car that might be better in the rain?

Here are a few goals for the next toy vehicle:
under 10 lb/hp (after reasonable modifications)
road legal
projects are OK so long as welding and machine work are limited
reasonable maintenance costs
under $15,000 initial purchase
looks are not terribly important
thinking race seats and harnesses for best car control during track days and auto-x

What does Oppo think I should do?

I currently have a 1996 328i. If I did a project with an E36, it would probably just be an LS swap. The name alone is fun, BMW 357. As is, the 328 needs some valvetrain work, suspension refresh, and all the rest that a 160,000 mile car needs. This is actually the leading contender, but I want some other ideas.
I hadn’t thought about a 240 in a long time.
The Fox body would be a load of fun and satisfy that deep need for V8 noise.
Something big like a Galaxie doesn’t quite rev up my engine. That’s a car that IMHO should be kept pretty for cruising, or could be OK for straight line work. I’m not so interested in straight lines.
