The renault version has a mock Nissan GTR grille which amuses me enough to say its the better car.

Nissan.

Will Renault be doing a version of the new Micra for the same market as the Pulse?

So the Renault is a badge engineered Nissan with a face from another Nissan which the car itself doesn’t come from.

I need a drink.

Ye’, just seen.

Does Nissan have any plants in India?

I suppose it’s made under licence from Nissan at the Chennai factory.

Stealing styling cues from the company you’re rebadging does seem in poor taste haha.

The new Micra sure is a looker unlike its competitors. And afaik it will be produced in Britain.

From what I can see it’ll share Renault’s engines and be built at Renault’s, Flins plant in France.

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-events/paris/2016/boring-to-bold-next-gen-2017-nissan-micra-unveiled-pictures-and-details/

UK sales start in March and prices will be ranged against Fiesta and Polo, and likely to be up slightly on the old Micra. Fittingly for a car launched in Paris, European production comes from France at Renault’s Flins plant, where the Clio and Zoe are also made, and one of the sites where the great old Renault 4 was produced.

So the car the OP posted is a Nissan that’s made in India for the Indian market as a Renault while the next generation will be Nissan’s made a Renault plant.

Production for the current Micra/Pulse will continue in India (they sell both in India) and Mexico (for Latin America) because the platform is much cheaper than the new French Micra which is a lot more upmarket and with Turbo engines which don’t make much sense in emerging markets.

The Renault version of the new Micra would pretty much be the Clio IV.

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/nissan/nissan-micra-2017-review/

It slots in at 3999mm long for supermini status and the extra space (17cm longer, 8cm wider) guarantees extra room, especially in the front.

The rear seats suffer from the raked roofline, with crimped headroom; kids will be fine, but it’s a bit of a squeeze in the back if you’re used to Skoda Fabia levels of spaciousness.
