He is totally content to drive around the city aimlessly for hours, and as no interest in doing races. He did finish first in on a Sprint race though. It was a good moment.

If that’s what CRT stands for than yes? Lol. We just recently got the flat panel as an anniversary gift and we decided not to get a new entertainment center solution until we move.
Also I’ve had that TV for about ten years, which is pretty good considering it was free. A co worker didn’t need it and gave it to me.

That is in fact what CRT stands for. I was wondering why there was a flat screen sitting above it, that makes sense.

Having a CRT around is great for old consoles, since some of them don’t work on modern TVs without an adapter (looking at you, N64!)

My son is a competitive Smash Bros player, and they all use CRTs. Something about the refresh rate being faster on that than a flat screen.

NFS Underground 2?? From like 2003?? (just checked - 2004 actually)
I loved that game growing up. Roaming the streets and finding cool areas and then customizing your cars were definitely the two best parts of the game! But of course you gotta race to make money, unlock new cars and areas, etc. At some point I imagine you’d get tired of wandering the limited unlocked areas (iirc, it has locked areas right?) without doing races to get more.

This game defined my teenage life lol I played underground one for hours on end, and it was half the game NFSU2 was. I need to buy another copy tho because this one is so scratched up it nearly works. I’m still pissed that the oldest NSF game you can download is Carbon which was a halfassed attempt , and really the death of NFS games as a whole.

It’s just so different from my focused attitude that I’ve always had with video games. He doesn’t t want to race because he doesn’t understand or enjoy competition, so he’d rather just avoid it.

Most Wanted was my last and I loved that game too but it wasn’t quite as good as U2. (The AI in MW were pains...)
My friend had Carbon and he liked it, but for some reason, I didn’t quite like it much or how they had changed.
The only other NFS I played growing up was Hot Pursuit 2... now that was a classic. I was but a burgeoning car guy way back then...

I started with Hot Pursiut 2, love the Undergound games. I loved that MW Brought back police chases. But carbon just lacked something, I didn’t like the game play itself, and the game was too short, I beat it in one night something you could never do with NFSU2 or MW. Then there was undercover which tried to add too many new elements. And the new Most Wanted is just Burn Out Paradise with real cars.

Hmm I was curious about the new Most Wanted... I presumed it was a remake but I guess not? Weird that they reused the name then for a completely different game.
As far as the Burnout comparison, I’ve only played the one Burnout game on PSP a long time ago and enjoyed the hell out of it. Not serious at all, but even though it didn’t have real cars, I never thought twice about it. Not sure if the console Burnouts compared similarly but I’m sure they did. It played well as a mobile game impressively.
