I stopped by the local Honda Store in search of the ultimate unicorn ( a Civic, Hatch, Touring, 6 spd Stick - Sold only in Canada —-Sigh) and I saw this probably the last new CRZ stick shift I’ll ever see.
How rare is it? Last year, American Honda sold 1.6 million vehicles. Of those 2300 were CRZ’s, Of those about 20% were manual transmission cars. In other words, there was one manual CRZ built for every 3720 Honda’s sold last year.
The manual CRZ made up about .02% of sales last year...... Unicorn, make it Albino Unicorn.
I wonder how it would have sold had they dropped a 180 hp turbo in it.....

Oh my gosh!! I want it. They are pretty rare. The supercharged special edition package was pretty cool. That package is even more rare than the regular car, since it was sold for only two years of the car’s history. If I ever get to the top of Honda one day, I’ll try to put a good performance engine in it.

Yes, file that under Honda’s missed opportunities.... I guess they were too busy concurring the natural gas powered hybrid market.....

It’s rare because nobody wanted them. Production numbers weren’t low because demand was high and exclusivity was a thing for the CR-Z. The were low because it was the answer to a question no one asked.
If you do want one, there’s no real rush to get this one. ‘While you can’ may as well encompass all of 2017, because it’s going to be a while before that car leaves the lot.
