Kinja'd!!!

I made some mulch this afternoon with my cheap electric chipper that I got on Amazon a few years ago. I don’t know why, but feeding it sticks and seeing wood chips fly out the other end is so relaxing. I could do this all day. Anyway, here’s more pictures.

I’m really tempted to buy a gas one so that I don’t need to do as much prep work getting branches down to size, but I’m bit scared of the maintenance and the temptation to cut down way more than needed just to feed the chipper.

My dad has a gas one, and I’m pretty sure it is his favorite toy. I fully expect him to lose an arm careless freeing a jam at some point, but in the meanwhile it supports his other yard work hobby of cutting things back extremely far. Something like this:

every now and then there would be one of these in the yard waste section of the dump. it was always impressive to watch full stumps just disappear.

All I can think about this is what would happen if an arm or leg for caught in it

This one pretty safe from that by design. You’d have to be pretty determined - it can’t really happen accidentally. That being said, I have hurt myself from branches flying out, snapping, or jamming my hand between the branch and housing. You definitely want to be wearing safety glasses and sturdy gloves. And earmuffs. It’s loud AF.

Ages ago I was talking with my mother and mentioned that I didn’t mind spending gas money just to go drive random places just for the pleasure of driving. She said she felt the same way about her wood chipper. There must be something addictive about those things...

I still have one of those “lampshade” iMacs as well. I bought it new in 2002. I also have an original blue and white one hiding in a spare room. I have a problem collecting old Apple gear. I also have another iMac like the one in the workshop, an Apple //c, a Macintosh Classic, a Powerbook Duo, multiple blue and white G3 towers, a Powerbook G4, an iBook. It’s a weird combination of stuff bought new and kept forever, bought used, and ended up with for free. I actually pulled the iBook out of the trash and got it working.

I only have the iMac since a client gave it to me since it was dead. Put in a new hard drive and lg DVD burner and got myself a garageputer. Great for PDF, music and google.
