It’s a ferry ride away from me, rebuilt, has a battery draw from the radio, and airbag and wheel speed sensor problems. They also don’t really show the drivers side of the car. But it’s got shadowline trim, and it’s pretty cheap for a touring. I mean this is the first E39 touring I’ve seen for sale in almost a year. Still, just want it, absolutely don’t need it.

Thanks. I was going to have a productive Saturday but now I’m on Craigslist... First World Problems are the worst!

My friend went and saw that one, he said it’s worse in person, especially the interior. I haven’t seen it, but it has been for sale for like a month, and only dropped $100 in price. Probably means you could get it for like $4000 though if he finally decides he actually wants to sell it, would be a really fun car

Not a manual, but there’s an x-type wagon for $3500 that I saw yesterday. It can’t be THAT bad if an idea, right?

Abs sensor is the rear passenger side one iirc (because speedo not working, very easy). Airbag could very well be the passenger seat pressure pad (someone kneeing on it damaged it), or just the plug (anything else is very unlikely to fail). Not sure why the radio would drain the battery, maybe the battery is just old or isn’t getting charged because the alternator is getting old. Getting another E39 radio shouldn’t really cost anything either. If it has self leveling rear suspension, the airbags are something to look out for, even though they aren’t really that expensive either. Change the atf and it should be fairly smooth sailing.

Edit: Oh yeah, the abs control module (expensive to fix) and sensors (kinda expensive but easy to replace) will eventually need attention as well.

For $3500 I’d say it’s fine
