As long as the seller can provide me a stack of bills and the full service history, both.

Newer with high mileage gets you in the door for modern safety equipment. Good stuff there!

Older? That’s an emotional thing.

Newer higher mileage:

1) Decent chance the owner just did lot’s of highway driving.

2) Seals, gaskets, and other rubbers/plastics deteriorate more from age than use.

3) Newer cars normally have fewer owners.

Edit: 4) With newer cars the engines are practically guaranteed to last over 150k anyway.

Depends how high/how old. I’m not interested in anything over 200k miles, but I also know the worst thing you can do to a car is not drive it.

My thoughts as well, just curious to see what other oppo’s think.

2008 with ~225k vs 2000 with ~125k.

Hmmm, that’s a tough one. 225k miles is more than I’d like, and 2000 is older than I’d like for a DD. I’d say in general I’d take the 2000 as long as it isn’t all rusty. A 2008 is still nine years old and had an extra 100k miles on it

What if the said car was a Toyota Avalon? I mean my current DD has 265k miles and is 19 years old.

Yeah, it definitely depends on the vehicle. An ‘08 Avalon I’d be comfortable driving with 225k miles on it, and I wouldn’t touch a 2000 Audi with 125k miles on it with a 10' pole. I was just answering in general to give you an actual answer, instead of “eh, it depends” :)

Also have you had any luck finding a Roadmonster replacement?
