Kinja'd!!!

A couple weeks ago when the Colorado weather was amazing, I rolled the moto out for a ride. I set on the kickstand just outside the garage. I went to put my gloves on and turned around just in time to see the wind blows the bike over onto the car. The bars missed the steel bumper and hit the 30 year old plastic filler piece. There goes $400 whenever I get around to fixing it. Woof.

Yeah, Illinois AV plates are good for 5 years so I’m getting my money’s worth haha.

Nice! I’d do the same. Regal or GN? (I think I’ve asked this before.)

Grand National. 1987. 44k miles. Bought two beat up Grand Nationals for $7k 4 years ago on the West side of Chicago. Sold one and restored the other.

What sent you to Colorado? If you don’t mind.

That’s a heck of a change from the West side. Were you close to 42nd and Kildare?

So many questions. Sorry

Haha no prob. I actually grew up on 43rd and Karlov, so pretty close. I lived on 31st street when I bought these. I ski bummed for a couple years in CO after college and always wanted to move out West permanently. My lifestyle and personality works much better here, and my money goes farther. My job paid for my move about 3 years ago. That made it even easier.

No joke! We used to race in the 42nd and Kedvale area and Doty road out south. Illinois Bar and Grill on 47th was a regular hangout as was Archer before the “No Cruising” signs went up.

I’m on the Iowa/Il/Wi border now. Very wallet, off road and camping friendly without leaving family too far behind.

Yeah the street scene was wild back in the day. I was too young for most of it, but I still remember.

The main stuff I miss from Chicago are the food and family/friends.

“The main stuff I miss from Chicago are the food and family/friends.”

Family is why I didn’t drop it all and move out west. The opportunity is there but I don’t/won’t fly.

The food? I’ll always be a Chicagoan when it comes to the food. There’s no place better and I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise.

Haha I’m the same. My brother sent me a portillos make your own beef sandwich kit for my birthday. I just cook food at home and keep my expectations low at restaurants, especially Italian.

I haven’t been to Portillos since he sold it in 2015. I’m afraid it won’t be the same. Dick perfected good “fast food”. Berkshire isn’t as focused on the little details like quality. It’s more about the process and profit for them.

I’ll put any hole in the wall Italian or Polish and even some Irish restaurants from Chicago up against the best in the world.

I’m going to ask around in the forums. Hopefully it’s the same part on regular Regals too.
