Kinja'd!!!

300 panes. The home is alright. Of the five guest rooms only four had heated floors and of those four only two had separate elevators to the “cinema experience room” downstairs (there’s a plaque with that on the door). Oh and the plebes only had a two story fish tank, can you believe that?

Kinja'd!!!

Had to fully extend a 32' on a curved staircase, on my jury rigged block setup. Fun stuff.

There is nothing wrong with that setup. It’s to let the guests know their place in the pecking order.

The setup I’m worried about is with your ladder. I’m glad nothing bad happened.

Good point.

It looks bad but it was actually rock solid. Unfortunately my adjustable extendo-feet are only on the ladder 8" shorter than the one I had to use...

Are the things on the walls beside the window wall light sconces? At least it’s not another faux craftsman or Tuscan.

Light sconces that can also be used as planters (apparently they put hanging vines in occasionally).

I don’t mind Tuscan, but yes I’m alright if Craftsman style homes continue to stay unpopular around here. This place is pretty unique, but it’s a totally custom home. Every residence going up now is super modern and boxy, and very efficient in terms of space, lighting, etc. This has a ton of additions directly opposite to that ethos. Like the FOURTEEN foot tall entryway door

Edgy, in that normcore-in-denial Puget Sound kind of way. No doubt a Tesla in the garage, and a Porsche too.

It seems the 15 year period between 19997-2012 or so was dominated by the faux craftsman. I’m not unhappy to see it ending either, although the mcmodern box, faux Tuscan, and gambrel roof shingle get tiresome too. They must have imported the doors from California or Florida.

Obviously someone who knows the area. Yep, Model S, top of the line, so most likely not the first, and then a BMW x5m.

I’m 22 and have been on the Eastside my whole life more or less, what’s the difference between the faux Craftsman and the real deal? Hoping build quality for starters...

I live in Bellevue, I see the ostentatious dopes all day. All too often sketchy money too.

Build quality/materials, design, and maybe age. Braced eaves and prairie muntins don’t a craftsman make. A real craftsman could be built today, but it would be very expensive to build, and require an actual architect rather than a contractor using planbooks.
