So Monday night came to the hospital because my large intestine ruptured. After a 4 hour surgery I came out with 15 inches less of large intestine. (Weight savings)
Now it’s Friday night and still only on IV. Since yesterday I actually have to get up to go pee. I’ve got 26 staples along my belly. And I got a poo bag for a good 3 months. Don’t know when I will get to eat, nor when I will get to go home. Sometime next week I hope. My wife just passed with my daughter who will be 3 Monday and my son who is now 16 months old. Hats off to my wife for doing it all and then some since Monday.

In over 3 months I will get to poo normalishly again.
The bag was my worse fear since I first got deverticulitis in 2003.

That’s crazy ironic that you dealing with a gastric rupture... I’d never even heard of such a thing until 3 weeks ago when a good friend of mine had it happen to her.. But she thought it was just the flu... (I heard the symptoms are similar...?) But she didn’t seek medical treatment because she thought it was just the flu.. Her roommate found her dead on the kitchen floor....
So get well soon!
And remember, it could be worse!

I almost didn’t go to the hospital since I thought it was just another diverticulitis flair un, untill I almost passed out. That’s when I told my wife she needs to drive me to the hospital. That was at 8:30 pm and I started at 3:30 pm. So since I waited 5 hours, that left a 5 hours window of poisoning my self with my own poo....that’s why they had to really cut me open to clean me up. I have a good ten inch scar on my belly

God bless you for escaping sepsis. You’ll be fixed up and back in action in no time. The bag absolutely sucks, though. And last I checked, they make them of clear material for maximum disgustingness, too. Just keep those little rug rats and their mom in mind and get better!

When you said your wife just passed, I thought the worst. Glad you are on the mend. Avoid security gates and MRI machines until you get the staples removed. Hanging magnets from them is perfectly acceptable entertainment for the kiddos.
