Like with the other two rentals you’ll get my thoughts on the completion of my trip.

How grounded to the ground is it?

You know the worst thing about Corollas? They do everything well in a way that makes you go, “If only this thing was interesting.”

I drive a Corolla hatchback with a Pontiac badge on it, so I speak from the fun side of my brain when I say this.

If it wasn’t for the stick and the unholy amount of cargo the can swallow, it would be the ultimate superego purchase, instead it is but also satisfies a little bit of the id.

Worst steering rack I’ve ever encountered. Also, it’s not small anymore... only a like 4 inches shorter an 1 inch narrower than a gen 4 Outback.

I doubt your thoughts would different from mine:

“Adequate, reliable transportation, and nothing more”

Is it missing floor mats and if so is there a hole worn through the carpet where your right heel rests?

(Most Toyotas get floor mats as a dealer accessory so the rentals often don’t have any, and the Corolla carpet doesn’t hold up to the abuse.)

How tall are you? The biggest thing I dislike about my wife’s Corolla is the center console always hits me in the side of the knee. I never had this problem before automakers started putting center consoles in every single vehicle sold today.

Otherwise though, it’s a perfectly fine vehicle. It gets decent gas mileage, is relatively peppy, and does everything as it should. They really don’t deserve the hate they get.

Stop by Zunzis for dinner or Vinny Van Go Gos for pizza. Man, I want some Vinny’s pizza.

Isn’t it only really possible to skip the center console if you have a column shifter?

A coworker has a new Corolla. I was unwilling to accept that it wasn’t a Camry until they assured me that it was indeed a Corolla. But the same thing is definitely said for the new Civic as well. Except the Civic is actually a good car still but I digress.

Automakers managed to do it (or at least make it much less obtrusive) in vehicles built in the 80's and 90's. Almost every single vehicle I’ve had from that era were manual so they kind of had a console by default. Still didn’t seem to bang my knees on them like I do now.

Even big vehicles suffer from it. My father recently traded in his 2011 F150 for a 2016 Model. The old one you could set up a campground in the space you had. The new one has considerably less room. I mean, it’s not banging your knee on something every time you move bad, but still.

The only new vehicle I’ve been in in the last year that I felt had ample room was a Mini of all things. And I’m only 6'1.

Ahh okay, just a smaller console would do it. I am used to hitting my knee on the console always, but going around autox turns I need that console and the driver door to stay in the car lol. Something makes me think I need better seats!

Well, it didn’t take off, so I’ll assume they did a good job grounding it to the ground.

I haven’t really found any corners to chuck it into.

No floor mats or hole in the carpet, despite it having 38k on it.

5'9" I didn’t have issues sitting in it,

That’s my initial impression, but still got a few more days to make up my mind about it.

its the on-center lack of feel that I cant stand. Impossible to make small corrections on country roads with an inconsistent crown.

It was fine on the highway today. Much better than the Hyundai Sonata I had as a rental.

Dang dude you’re serious about keeping miles off the M3, or you’re planning to do car reviews for the FP

Also you get priorities approval —

job [first out of necessity]

car

woman

house.

There are only, like, 2 corners in all of South Georgia and they’re both on Demere Road on St. Simons.

Sadly they’re low-speed turns but when you see ‘em you’re so tickled to be in a turn again that the low speed part isn’t so bad

Hopefully all went well with the girl! Yes, do! If you go downtown to the club/bar scene let me know. I’ll have you meet up with my friends.

If I’d taken the M3 for all my trips down here, I would have put an additional 2k-3k miles on it. Why do that when I can get a rental. It’s cheaper to run and why am I going to rack up miles on my car when I don’t need to do that.

I’ve got a job and a place to live now; more importantly with a garage, M3 needs a new home too. Working on the car/girl part.

Seemed to go well. I’m sure I’ll be going out at some point now that I live here.
