Some auto related, some not. These are some things that have been stewing in my mind lately. Picture of some dead tech for your time

Kinja'd!!!

How does one test a clockspring? Cruise buttons work but horn does not. Horn relay is shot (of course it’s proprietary). I’d like to test the clockspring so I can grab one at the junkyard if I actually need it

Boss says I’m underpaid though I made about $15k over base pay last year due to overtime. How do I ensure he covers for that when he promotes/reclassifies me?

Why is my S40 sputtering and almost stalling after a warm start, but only randomly?

If I buy a 2500HD Denali Duramax, but leave it stock, am I still bro?

Am I stupid for wanting to turbo/super the Dakota? It’s just a few psi I swear

How the hell do I create a seamless transition between Gypsum lath and Plaster to drywall?

- Run 600v through it and short-circuit it. Clockspring is now shot. Replace.

- Who is this boss and how can I get one

- Sputtering is always random. I see nothing wrong here.

- Depends. Are you a male and do you have siblings

- Nobody is stupid for wanting to turbo/super things, only stupid for doing it wrong

- With the Force

My guess failing coolent temp sensor, will make it too rich under warm start up.

Lol

Nope

I do, especially when the sputter/stall keeps me from high-acceleration maneuvers

Yes and yes

That’s good enough validation right there

Is that some sort of joint compound?

How the hell do I create a seamless transition between Gypsum lath and Plaster to drywall?

A: Lots of joint compound and fiberglass tape. Then top coat with mud.

So, joint compound and tape to bring the thickness up?

I’m a complete noob at this shit

Was boss referring to your base pay, or your overtime take? Figure that out.

Also, use joint compound to fill the gap between plaster and drywall, or fiberglass mesh tape and concrete fill compound if there is a large gap. Here are some videos that should help.

Happened to my 2002 Jag X-type, I spent weeks tracking that SOB down, on the Jag at least it was a cheap part under $20 and no harder to change than a spark plug.

- y tho

- k

- There you are then

- See above

- Sounds more like a sex toy to me. Seriously though, I have no idea. I’d guess you’re out of luck as far as a perfect joint goes, unless the plasterer was fanatical about details. If you want it perfect I’d say you have to tear everything out up to a corner and drywall the works, tie it together with a drywall trim in the corner. If you aren’t too bothered about perfection, maybe just tape and plaster the joint?

Oh and RE: boss, I’m pretty sure he knows my take. He doesn’t like that I’m on hourly and part of this is getting me back into a position with salary.

I plan on being nice when we start the discussions and letting him know that, if I am going to make less with this promotion, I’m likely to not take it

Kinja'd!!! "Party-vi" (party-vi)
02/24/2017 at 16:05, STARS: 0

Up front he should know that any promotion or move to salary will not include the same hours, otherwise you’re just where you are now.

Does he not like you hourly because he has to pay you more? Or does he want you on better benefits?

He doesn’t like me being on hourly because it’s stupid. They reclassified me last year because someone decided analysts should be paid hourly, but I’m not an analyst. Nobody is particularly sure how I got lumped into the reclassification.

I think another part of it is the scope of my work is changing. To the point of likely needing a passport changing. Nobody wants to pay a traveler hourly

Clockspring should be a simple resistance test. (Obviously, you wouldn’t want to perform a drop voltage test if there’s an airbag involved.) I should think the wires will be the same color on either end. Pull the steering wheel cover/airbag assembly, and find the other end underneath the dash somewhere.

The joint compound and tape bridge the gap and prevent future cracking because it’s strong, you could continue to use the joint compound to build it up,in layers. Finally you finish with “mud” or topping compound. Topping compound is much easier to work with (for sanding) and you can dilute it if it’s too stiff, and also use it to texture.

Stock diesel pickups are non-bro. AEV Prospectors are also non-bro.

In order to achieve bro status, you need to delete it, put on a smoke tune, a large yet cheap lift, 20"+ negative offset wheels (so they stick out), large mud tires, and lots of shiny shit.

If you need to get a passport for work make the boss pay for it. Even if you might need a passport for work ask the boss if he will pay for it. That is how I got my last passport.

Was planning a ski trip and we were getting involved with a new plant in Mexico. There were rumors that I might be involved in the Mexico plant and I definitely needed the passport for the ski trip. Ironically I ended up using it for a last minute work trip before going on the ski trip that was planned when I applied for the passport.
