Kinja'd!!!

Thank god, they finally got rid of the stupid eyeliner wing orange marker things on the headlights and made the mouth less D: and more 0:

Also these wheels, that color, and the blacked out headlight housings are all amazing. Good job, Ford.

Bad news man, those clear side markers are 99% Europe only. The US will still require it because of some ancient 1872 law about “Driver Safety”.

US models are going to have to have yellow turn lenses on the front.

Overall it looks like someone melted the old model.

I’ll never understand why people jump to the conclusion that the way things are done in Europe is the “Right Way.”

New one looks worse. Looks less aggressive and the rear looks like a C-Max. Also the new wheels have that garbage black-painted sections mess.

Also, 3-cylinder.

Yeah but they aren’t going to be pointed swoopy eyeliner-lookin things anymore. The shape of the headlight assembly is much better.

It’s going to be more like this:

Yes I made that in Paint, deal with it.

I’m just happy to finally see directional twist-style wheels come stock on a car. All the photos show that they are directional. But this assumes that those are photos of the production car... I’m ready to be disappointed because:

Not even Porsche gave a shit enough to make their twists directional:

We have a bunch of archaic laws that are holding back headlight technology and design.

Definitely. I think the new FiST looks a lot more taught, nice facelift.

I know Honda did them with the Quaalude, but you gotta admit, it’s been a long time. Honda was the last to do it from the factory, I think...? That was 20+ years ago.

All I’m saying is: it’s about time to see some factory directional twists.

Edit: also, funny how differently Honda and Porsche prioritize things...

They have laser headlights in Europe. By any and all definitions that is the “Right Way”

Yeah, I can’t think of anything since then either. I want to say the current Accord has non-directional twist wheels on the base models.

I don’t think you understand how those headlamps work. they’re not blasting laser beams down the road. inside the housing they shine blue lasers on a phosphorescent patch, which then glows a diffuse bright white via Stokes shift and is what generates the beam source which is then reflected through the lens. it’s basically the same way a “white” LED works, but with the blue light source and phosphor physically separated.

I knew they weren’t shooting laser beams directly out of the car. However, point still stands, lasers > LEDs. Euro headlights> US headlights.

Lasers.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I know of a few base model cars come with non-directional twisty hubcaps.

I don’t get that criticism. What’s so wrong with it? The C-max rear is a decent design.

The Fiesta ST went from a unique/sporty rear to something rather generic IMO.

And this is the first time I’ve heard someone say the C-max rear is a decent design.

I think it’s generally an improvement, but I’ll miss the more vertical taillights, and those wheels are hella ugly.

And unfortunately, US market cars are required to have those orange reflectors.
