I guess they are not bad. Last time I had a “workstation” grade machine, it was by a whitebox shop that helpfully didn’t put thermal grease on the CPU, something which I imagine rarely happens at Dell.
Still, going back even further, I felt more special with an O2 on the desk in front of me:

I’m afraid Optiplexes don’t qualify as workstations, in the sense of hardware intended for technical workloads. At best, they’re the sort of computer designed for simplified maintenance and management that a small team of interns would deploy by the hundreds/thousands at a large company. If you want a Dell workstation, you want a Precision.

I ordered mine as soon as the Skylake version was released. i7, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, 1080p display. Best laptop I have ever owned by far.

I did the same too, except mine is the 1080p/8GB/256GB version. I sorta wish I went for the 4k screen but I’m still really happy with it. Its also the best laptop I’ve ever owned, so much better than my Lenovo which tried to do its best Ferrari impression before it died.

I actually had a broadwell XPS 13 (i5, 256gb ssd, 8gb ram, 3200x1800 display) before I got the 15. I ended up selling the 13 to my dad when I got my 15. I specifically wanted a 1080p display because I had discovered with the 13 that a lot of professional programs ignore windows display scaling making them impossible to use on higher resolution displays.

Ive got a Z600, works great for me. Dual quad core + hyperthreading, just wish it was as fast as my workstation at home (dual 10 core + hyperthreading with 128gb of RAM).
Need better graphics though. The pathetic old quadro I have just isnt doing so hot lately. Need to find something just a little better somewhere in the office.
Thinkpad T420 laptop rocks with a datacenter SSD and a USB3.0 expresscard. Couldnt ask for more out of a great work only machine.
