I decided to retune my carb this afternoon on the Fiat spider. That went fine, had it running smooth, idling at a stable 800 rpm. Well, it’d had a slight whistle from the timing belt I replaced, so after I’d shut her down I decided to release and re tension the belt. While tightening the bolt that holds the tensioner assembly in place and stops the spring I overdid it and sheared the stud coming out of the block.

....&%$*

I think I just wasted months of time and I’m going to have to take it to a shop... ugh, I’m getting drunk tonight.

I know they’re hard to use and I have no idea how much space you have to work with but can’t you drill into the sheared bolt with a reverse threaded drill bit (so you don’t turn it further into the block) and work it out that way, or with an extractor?

I have a friend coming by with a “puller”, if that doesn’t work I’ll give this a go!
