Hey guys, more nagging from the Croatian kid in the US. It looks like I’m gonna make this a regular series.

Kinja'd!!!

Anyway, I’m coming to work in Sunnyvale (California, Bay Area) with a friend, starting from June. I found a job at a restaurant.

Now we have to find accommodations. We’re looking to rent either a full apartment, a room with 2 beds or everything in-between for at least a month. We’re looking for something as cheap as possible.

Looking at the prices on Craigslist, AirBnB and Hotel websites, it looks like we’re gonna have to fork over around 1000 bucks a month.
(Did you notice my cool US lingo? I’m gonna blend in so well Trump won’t even notice me.)

Is there any way you can stay someplace (extremely) temporary for about a week and look after you’re here for a more permanent (so to speak) place?

It’s always good to see places with your own eyes, also talk to people on the ground there, you know? Plus, after you’re here word-of-mouth is a good way, too.

Congrats that things are progressing! It’s awesome that you’re coming :)

how long do you need to rent? Check out apartments.com or just get out and drive around. Lots of places don’t have a big web presence.

Thanks for the nice words!
Yes, I can switch places when I get there, sure. I need to find something first just to make sure I don’t end up on the street the first night there lol. +, my work and travel agency requires me to have something worked out beforehand.

I’m just thinking hey, if I’m already looking, I might as well try to do the best deal I can while I’m still ahead.

I’ll drive around when I get there, I have to look for something remotely, here from Yurop. Thanks for the tip, I’ll check out the site!

Idk about the bay area, but many apartments are rent free the first month. So you could just move into one of those and then you’d have an entire month to find a place. Although I don’t know about the cancelling fees, but some people just move every month to a new apartment for the free month. So it can’t be that bad.

The local newspaper might be a place to look. Their website might have a classified section.

Good luck

Oh man. The bay area is super duper expensive. Lots of family lives there, its nice as hell, but you pay for it. Best of luck!
