Two years on, it has finally set in. For all of its shortcomings, particularly in the areas of fit & finish, I miss our old Flex.

Why do you miss it? Seriously, what was cool about it? I rode in the back of once, but not long enough to get a feel for it.

It was comfortable, absurdly spacious and practical, and just felt cool for a three-row family crossover. We were one of the first people to get one in our area in ‘09. Imagine pulling up next to a Saturn Outlook in this thing, back when nobody had ever seen one before.

I wouldn’t buy one, but I really like the boxy look. If nothing else, I’m thankful that it’s different and not like every other SUV on the road.

I think I get it. Something different, but not weird and impractical for the sake of being different, and therefore even more cool because of it.

Though I do have to say, it was a little plasticky in the back in the one I rode in.

Yeah, like I said, a few issues lay in the quality.

We love our 2012 Limited EcoBoost. Though we didn’t love the expensive repair bills (fortunately covered by insurance) when my wife rear ended a Tundra in slow stop-and-go traffic, and what looked like a minor fender bender turned out to be $10k worth of damage due to the oil cooler and other parts related to the turbos needing replacement. We might skip the EcoBoost if we had to do it again, as awesome as the 355hp is, but since we have it, we do enjoy it.

Love the plate, btw!
