So I have a couple of old tires that I have no use for anymore and I highly doubt anybody will buy them so I want to make them into some kind of furniture or just do something cool with them. Any ideas Oppo?

Feel free to post other car parts furniture, any ideas are welcome!

Cut them up into square/rectangular tiles and line your floor, wall or table in your garage/workshop.

Stack 2 and put a wooden plate on the top and some stuffing/clothing over it, prehaps pad it and you have a quite odd stool-ish thing

There was a guy on CL doing something like that. Similar to this.

Can this be accomplished by a mere mortal, maybe with a sawsall?

Absoluetly make a tire swing out of one. For some reason I can’t find a picture of mine, but when 4 kids are winding it up then spinning themselves down (mine is flat), and giggles and screams are echoing around the whole neighborhood, you know your tire swing is a hit.

A tire wall? Are you getting ready for the zombie apocolypse? That thing must STINK on hot days!

What type of blade? I imagine the steel belting must need a metal/demo type to cut cleanly

I can’t remember. but steel did the trick. The real PITA is flipping it inside out...you’ll want help. Then buy 3m rubber undercoat to spray over the cords (snip and trim as best as possible) so no one gets stabbed.

Good advice, thanks. I was wondering how you’d avoided the steel belting wounds of my childhood tire swing.

Well at least this way when I go insane I won’t have to be checked into a “real” rubber room.

Might need a few more tires for that.

Just tires but wheel ideas are also welcome, there was a good one above.

depending on how wide the wheels are, they can make good shelves, width 10x2, i have used them as stools, with a cushion on the top sides. they make good coffee tables if they are wide enough wheels for height. if the wheels are very clean, they make for a good bowl for junk storage( put a piece of cardboard in them for a solid bottom). they make for a good lamp base. if they were radials, you might make some sandals

They’re pretty much bald NT01's so drag radials would be a good description. Kinda like the sandals idea, have been needing a new pair, hmmmmmmm...

those are what they use in africa. if you google tire sandal africa, you can see a whole bunch of different variants. this was about a nice simple pattern. i forget how poor some of those third world countries are, i also forget about luxurious everyday niceties that i take for granted, like boots....... the first time i had seen a picture of them, i thought it was the greatest thing ever. such a simple solution to a dumb problem. and if a guy were enterprising, he could make different variants...... like, the bfg radial t/a sandal, bfg mud terrain sandal, super swamper tsl sandal, mickey t drag radial et sandal, and down the line with all kinds of trendy tread patterns........ i just havent MADE enough time to build myself some sandals. things would probably outlive you......

Yeah I remember seeing those on one of the Top Gear Africa specials. My cornering grip will be immense if I make a set with the tires I have.
