The Mustang has a couple of spots where the paint is peeling up. This one in particular had some surface rust so I thought I’d hit it with a wire wheel on my angle grinder and clean it up. Turns out the car has been painted so much the paint is about a quarter of an inch thick and every color of the damn rainbow. This is on the hood.
What it looked like before.
After some primer to keep it from surface-rusting again. Gonna need to get some body filler to level this back out, lol. Or some 200 grit sticky pads for my random-vibrate sander.
This little peeling section just shot off a huge chunk when I tapped it with the wheel
A bit more obvious than the roof... definitely gonna get a little syringe of single-use body filler from Autozone.

My land rover: started red, was painted yellow, repainted yellow which turned brown, finally painted blue, which then drew up and cracked down into the yellow. Obviously “Aircraft Remover” turned out to be my best friend in the wurrrrlld. Before I redid everything and painted it blue - wait, what? Okay, it was a correct blue the second time.
Also: dem bondo feels, breh.
ETA: all wacky colors were before I got it.

From what I’ve read you want to use small amounts of hardener because more hardener makes it more likely to flake off.

Temperature can affect it as well might want to invest in a few small heatlamps if you’re workshop isn’t heated.
