I was really hoping the license plate said boogie woogie woogie woogie. But that would be hard to font in 7 characters.

Wonder if the Volt in the garage is like the first bike with training wheels that now sits unloved in the corner, gathering dust.

I’d rather have the Volt.

Falcon doors and supercar quarter mile times are hard to pass up... (or at least until you run out of juice.)

Ahh gentrifying. Weird new build or old house with constant additions? Windows look older to me.

Completely remodeled a few years back. They own the house I was actually working in across the street. From what I gather they own lots of things...

The Model X is very much not growing on me, and by that I mean it looks like a bloated whale carcass.

Back when you could buy those places for under 100K, no doubt.

Those days are never coming back. Not when you can buy a $675k house at a plat in Stanwood.

Or a 60 year old 1000 sq ft tract bungalow in west Bellevue for 1MM. But the lucky generation sure cashed in.

Those are the saddest ones though. They’re bought for a “bargain,” then immediately mowed down for a contemporary hypercube. Sometimes I see old homes in Medina, little 2 bedroom ramblers with a carport, and I think to myself, “Bet that’s gone in six months.”

I’ve gone to a couple estate sales in west Bellevue in the past year where the houses are now gone. I make it a point to talk to the family about the houses. Both bought in the 50s/60s, one was 11K, I think one was 20K (and it was bought new). The former sold for 880K, the latter 1MM even. The houses were modest and unrenovated, teardowns.

The boomers could still pick this stuff up for no more than 100K or so well into the 80s. No luck, all hard work, they will tell you. And the people buying these places today, that’s a fun story - look at the issues in Vancouver, now coming here at a record pace.
