It is rough but I am sure someone could bring it back from the dead.
It has a few issues.
1. No title. It has a New Mexico Plate last tagged in 1984.
2. No VIN plate. ( VIN can be found on the frame)
3. No hood, radiator or grill, tailgate, outer fenders windshield, The PO decorated his garage with all of the good stuff.
4. Big hole in the engine block. (see pic, good carnage)
5. I need to keep the wheels and tires. The PO wants them back.
6. The tub appears to be a lost cause. lots of rust, holes.
This is basically a frame, axles, trans, tranfer case and suspension.

Oddly the conrods and crankshaft visible through the gaping hole in the block appear to be intact. This raises the question: what went through the block then?

Doesn’t that just crack the coolant passages? I wouldn’t expect that to blow a giant hole in the block.

What the... But... I can’t even.
No title, VIN plates, all of the salvageable bits are on the previous owner’s garage wall, you don’t even get to keep the wheels, and seller admits that the remainder of the tub is shot.
Well, looks like scrap steel is about $0.04/lb.

After brushing all the rust off with a feather duster, I’d imagine there’s at least a little bit of steel. If you’re lucky and drive a really efficient vehicle, there may be even enough to cover your fuel cost to drag it to the scrap yard.

well, it doesnt explode so much as it expands (hydraulics maybe?) itself apart. if it were to freeze and crack, and maybe thaw some then refreeze again real soon, it might be able to shove a big chunk out like that. i have seen blocks break holes out, but its uncommon, like you say usually it just cracks.
