That’s... 11 days. Not counting how long it took to fix the last time.

Burn it already.

Thank God we haven’t bought any. Is that the gas or diesel version?

Right now I just have an Econoline with a speedometer that doesn’t want to indicate speeds higher than 20 mph, a big Nissan NV that always thinks the driver’s side door is open along with some sort of TPMS system malfunction, and a RAM C/V that always thinks the gas cap is missing.

one of the senior engineers in my group is an Italian guy worked for Lancia and FIAT back during the ‘80s when they were still in the North American market.. He won’t touch a FIAT product with a 10-foot pole.

Do these break down as much in Yourup as in Murka? Or is it a local thing?

I think NA market Sprinters are made of the same compressed rust as others.

NA Sprinters are built from knock-down kits sent over from Yuurope, so yeah they’re the same compressed rust. They last about five years before they’re full of cancer around here.

Sprinters rust insanely fast in Europe too. I don’t understand why Mercedes hasn’t fixed that issue yet, and if they have recently why they allowed it this long.

Engine and transmission in the Promaster are Dodge parts. As far as I know the PSA or Fiat drivetrains they use in Europe are reliable.

Dart/200 engines maybe.

MB has had rust issues here and there for decades, but the Sprinters seem to be the worst. When a Seattle car has rust and isn’t even 10 years old, you know there’s a problem.

The Sprinter was one of the products of their old DaimlerChrysler days. Pretty much every Merc of those days would rust badly, the Sprinters even more so because those would get washed less than a car.

I’m sure whenever they get around to doing a clean slate design, they’ll return to the sanity that is rust protection.
