So one of my buddies is getting married, and he’s asked me to be his best man. Obviously I accepted and am very honored that he’d ask me, and I’m super excited for it. But I’ve never actually been to a wedding before, let alone been a best man, and I’m not entirely sure what all I’ve got to do and plan for! I figured some of you might have some experience in this area and can give me some pointers to use as a starting point! Ferrari is completely unrelated btw.

I’m the best man in a wedding coming up this May. Plan the bachelor party and prepare some sort of speech for the wedding dinner.

You can google ideas, but generally you should plan on giving at least a short toast at the reception (nothing fancy, maybe 10-30 seconds). Other than that, your main job is to coordinate all the groomsmen to do any kind of bachelor party or gift planning, as well as ensure pranks are committed against the groom on the big day.

I just know there’s a lot of tradition involved in weddings and certain people do certain things, so I didn’t want to forget something and ruin it all lol

Organise stag do. Make sure groom survives not visibly damaged and coherent enough to not upset bride at wedding.
Make sure groom turns up on time and rings are remembered
Make short speech, being sure to compliment bride and bridesmaids and somewhat embarrass groom, but not in a way that’ll offend the old folks.

As some have suggested - Bachelor party and Speech... BUT remember to not speak about the bachelor party in your speech. Very important.
Also, give some sort of a gift.

Never been a best man but recently got married. Ask the groom what he needs help with. My best man mostly helped wrangle the rest of the groomsmen because that’s what I needed help with. Short toast at the wedding, like 90 seconds max, then let the MoH do her thing for forever and a day.

I’ve filled the role twice. The scope of your responsibilities is completely dependant on the wishes of the groom. Just ask.
Responsibilities may include :
Bachelor party
Wedding day toast
Tux/attire coordination for the groomsmen
Transportation planning to/from the wedding
General moral support

Many years ago when I was asked me to be a best man, the happy couple got me a guide book that spelled it all out. It was a huge help. Sadly, I don’t remember the exact title, but it was similar to this:
