Autonomous cars are a contentious subject these days. Ike and PG discuss the numerous challenges electric and autonomous cars, from charging infrastructure to weather to potholes, how they’ll work in rural areas as opposed to cities, similarities to the shifts in thinking when the car replaced the horse and walking, and how the machines will kill all humans by being cute. They also talk about the promotion of Andrew Collins to Reviews Editor , and the future of writing and video on Jalopnik . “We have big shit in the works,” says PG. Finally, we hear about how Mitsubishi brought great sushi to Illinois, the real story behind his two first names, and why Kinja doesn’t suck anymore.

Just getting into this one, but nice interview so far. I liked his self-deprecating comment about the Camaro - ha! Some good insight about what it takes to be an editor at an online magazine like this.
Levels definitely needed to be matched better - are you recording the interview on one line, or two that you put together afterward? Lots of crackle/static when he was talking, too - I’m guessing an issue on his end (phone). Not sure what the solution is for something like that. I know some podcasts actually send a recorder to their interviewee that they send back after, which clearly involves additional cost & time.

It’s 2 tracks down into one, I work on the balance weird I thought I had this one nailed. I’ll work on it may reupload audio. The crackle was on his end. I filtered out as much as I could. I’m not quite sure what caused it tbh

Good episode! I was going to listen to it this weekend, but somehow I found time tonight.
Interesting to hear some behind-the-scenes stuff. And I always find discussions about autonomous vehicles fascinating. Patrick brought up some good points that I don’t think I’ve seen brought up yet on Jalopnik (outside of the comment sections, anyway).
Did I get Patrick to review his car? You recorded this a few days before he posted it , so I guess so. Haha, that’s cool. (BTW, thanks for the shoutout, PG. That éX-Driver article was a fun project.)
