How does a freakin RX not have automatic lights?

Dunno. Maybe he had high beams on (highs don’t work at the same time as fog lights) and both fogs were burned out?

American car (DRLs not universally legislated iirc?)

Manual override that the driver used because moron?

Older RX, maybe even older than my pic, that didn’t come with them?

Murphy’s Second Law vs RX driver? <— (Seems like a winner to me. If someone could possibly hook something up backwards...)

The RX has been around long enough that there may be some model years that came without them.

See also: Driver possibly not setting them to automatic if equipped.

I see a number of late model cars that I know have automatic lights (or LED DRLs) with them disabled. The “driver” (term used loosely) has likely messed around with the settings, as they can be disabled if one gets into the menus. Like Smallbear said, because moron. These are the people with microwaves blinking 12:00.

You know what now that I think about it, you are absolutely right. My family has a 2016 CRV, when I got a ride over the weekend I noticed the lights were off and I told them why don’t you just leave the lights on “Auto” their response was so stupid that I won’t even type it here.

Safe to say, they have left it on Auto ever since.

But why do people do this! If there is an Auto feature just leave it alone!

I would rather people just use the switch and turn them on/off. The automatic doesn’t always know when visibility is low.

When Mrs McMike got her new car a few years ago, it had an automatic selection. She drives with her lights on all the time, so when she asked me if she should use it, I told her to keep doing what she has been doing.

You have intrigued me as to their response.

First they said they thought it would leave the headlights on after the car was parked and then something about the DRLs are bright enough. It was just a mess and I made my point clear that keeping it on auto is the most appropriate.
