My thoughts - OMG, I love the front end solution. Very clever. I’m not a fan of the step, but I also see no evidence of the now-ubiquitous S duct. The step is where FI usually put theirs. (see image below) They might have a clever solution that they don’t want to unveil yet and I bet there will be an S-duct outlet there by Barcelona. The fin’s odd to me. Part of me hopes that this is just a placeholder for the reveal and that we’ll see a better looking one in Barcelona where (this being Force India) they’ll have something super clever and out-of-the-box. It’s also possible that they spent too long developing the 2016 car as they duked it out with Williams for P4 last year. The most troubling bit to me is Andy Greene saying “It was a jigsaw to put togther but we have the basis of a car now.” Being difficult to put together makes me think that the design teams weren’t working as closely as they should have been, but results are TBD.

The front wing itself is quite elegant, but AAAGH the tip of the nose.
Also, if you say their S-duct’s on the step, that’s gonna be quite the slot, isn’t it? Another inelegant solution, but I guess if Checo can take the fight to Ferrari without much trouble...

No, the S duct isn’t there yet and will cover the spot where the notch is. I don’t think it will be inelegant. The nose isn’t really as steep as it looks in the picture because they put the rear wheels on blocks. That step is still there in all of the chassis. It’s part of the rules, but hidden by a cover to make it look better, which was a rule change in 2013 because of how ugly the 2012 cars were. Keep in mind that the nose is 200 mm longer now, so the inlet will be further forward. It doesn’t have to make a more dramatic S to get to that spot.
