just-a-scratch, commenting on a 600cc ice-kart video I posted : ”I have an ‘05 600RR with questionable frame. Hmmmm. I think my wife would stop that kind of lunacy before it got to the functional stage.” Well, Have I found the ticket for you! Formula 600 racing! What was once 500cc cvt 2-stroke stuff is now ripping racy noise. It’s got all the goods!
-paddle shift
-130+ mph
-”affordable” slicks
-low downforce squirm
-power to get you in trouble
-multi-class heat events (f6 runs with f5 and Fvee )
It’s still a relatively new offshoot of a long established F500 class, but it brings in modern equipment, feels and noises.

F500 is actually slightly faster in top speed but the f600 is using intake restrictor plates to equalize the 600 motors across makes, at least last I knew that’s what they were doing. So max usable rpm’s go around 13k and on the banked charlotte road/oval they’re hitting 135.

I would trade some top speed to not have to listen to REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE at a constant tone for an entire race.

Look up the Formula 600 Challenge. The winner of that series is eligible for a seat in a USF2000 car for the following season. The main sponsor of the F600 Challenge also runs a USF2000 team (RJB Motorsports). F600 is definitiely enticing and are probably now the best sounding formula cars at an SCCA event. They sound moderately like a V10 F1 car.
