Is that exhaust only on the cabrio or something? I’ve never heard a 435i sound like that and I’ve been next to and behind at least 20 of them.

I find it a seriously odd choice that you can get a 335i sedan or a 435i coupe with a manual but not a 435i gran coupe.

To date I still lament that I didn’t take the jump and got myself a 2015 428i Gran Coupe with a manual. It appeared and disappeared out of nowhere on the Canadian order guide. I would be driving a unicorn.
And who knows... there might’ve been a butterfly effect that the Giulia Quadrifoglio would’ve got a manual.

This engine sounds way different on a cold-start than once warm, even if it’s just running for a couple minutes.
I have the same engine on my X5 and it’s pretty loud and sounds like a racecar when starting cold (including pops when coming off throttle) but it goes away pretty quickly.
There is also a factory-made dealer-installed M performance exhaust for each BMW model which makes them sound pretty different but I don’t think the car in the video has it.

Motortrends theory for the quadrifoglio getting auto only is that they weren’t able to get the manual to pass american crash standards with it.
