Kinja'd!!!

Current tires are Yokohama C.Drive2s and I don’t particularly like them, I’m thinking either ContiSportContact 3s or Pirelli Phantom/PZeros. Any recommendations?

Tire size: 235/45R17

I had really good luck with 2 sets (2 different cars) with Continental DWS tires. I ’ m also very happy with the Pirelli Cinturato, currently mounted on my 2001 Passat. I used to mount overly - aggressive tires on my cars, but they always wore oddly and were just too much grip for normal everyday power. BTW, that ’ s a pretty wagon and I ’ m sad we don ’ t get it over here.

That’s like saying “I want a pair of shoes” and not mentioning what you’re going to do with them.

My Asics GT-2000 5s are great for running but I don’t wear them to lift legs, or to work.

What do you want in a tire?

Ride comfort
Noise level
Grip in dry/wet/snow
Steering response
Tread life

Right:

Noise level

Comfort

Grip comes first (we don’t have snow in brazil)

Steering response

Don’t care about thread life.

For a long time, the go-to tire if you wanted very grippy tire with better comfort and noise levels than expected for its grip level, with half decent tread life, and don’t care about slightly mushy steering response, was the Continental ExtremeContact DW. It’s been recently replaced by the ExtremeContact Sport. That’s your move.

Do yourself a favor and get the Pirellis. My 2015 Passat came with Continentals on the 17 inch wheels from the factory and they’re some of the worst tires I’ve ever had. I don’t feel confident taking the car above 90 mph. They’re also loud and relatively hard.

The contis are a great tire, good wet traction and decent tread wear for a soft tire. One of my favorites.

I actually wear Asics GT2000 for running, for work, and for legs day.

Any shoes that are less cushy make my knees hurt while walking for more than a few minutes.

I found that once I got up past a certain amount of weight, cushy running shoes, even stability-oriented ones like the GT 2000, are too squishy to get a good push into the floor. I went shoe-less a few times and I was much more stable, and felt much better lifting large-ish amounts of weight. But my callused feet weren’t too happy about it so I knew long term that was not a good idea, so I got stiffer cross-training shoes for leg days.

Not sure if it’s still going on but I got new tires from VW when they were on sale a few months ago for my Golf. Got Dunlop Signature HP’s and very happy with them. Highly rated and were the cheapest.

I wasn’t really looking at Dunlops, but I’ll take a look. Thanks!

Also, I always thought VW only sold Continentals. huh

Ah, that makes sense! I mostly use the leg machines, but if I get back into squats, I will keep that in mind!
