Nah - keep it in the family and go Mazdaspeed3 (or Mazdaspeed6 so I can have AWD, although that may be a tad more difficult)

It’s all in the C1 platform family! they’re just cousins instead of brothers. Their parents had a lot more money so they got cool AWD or turbo 5cylinder engines. C1 cars are supposed to share subframes and such, so theoretically.....

I may or may not have daydreamt and rationalized a Mk2 Focus RS motor in my 5. 5 cylinders in a Mazda5. That’s just logic!

I figured that the two (three) would share a lot of under the skin bits, so yeah, I guess it would be a fairly easy swap (although C&D had a hell of a time making their Boss Wagon VI using a Mazdaspeed3 and a Mazda5).

I forgot that the Focus RS had the 5; I love fives in all forms (radial, VR5, I5, etc.) so a 5 in a 5 would be a solid idea.

On a related note, does Ford still use the MZR engine in any of their current models?

the ecoboost still has roots in it, though so much is different that only a few parts are interchangable.
