I could have gotten Flynorcal’s Porsche. I was just 800 miles and a U-Haul flatbed away from a free 996. But the engine has to be dropped from below, and I don’t have the right equipment to lift it high enough.

Oh well.

Kinja'd!!!

It could’ve had a supercharged 1UZ in it. It could’ve.

In lieu of hugs, I’ll gladly take derelict S2000s.

I dropped my cars engine from below, and all I used was a ratchet strap connected to an i-beam in my garage’s ceiling to lift the car high enough.

it was not.

so car on jackstands etc to get it all set. then used a regular engine hoist to lift the engine and subframe and suspension all in one (the reason I went out the bottom not top) off their mounts and drop them onto a trolley on the ground.

then lift up front of car with ratchet. the beam was plenty strong. and slide engine and subframe etc out. then lower car back down. it didn’t remain lifted like that for long.

totes doable for a FREE porsche

Also the i-beam in my garage is sealed from the top, and I don’t want to add speed holes to my house just to lift a car because:

a) My house does not need to be simplified and have lightness added

b) My house is plenty fast on a track

c) What was I talking about again?

The MR2 way is to use your engine hoist to lift the car off of the engine.

All you need is an engine hoist. Once you drop the engine onto a dolly, you use the hoist to lift the back of the car. That’s how it works on an MR2 anyway. Don’t see why an old beetle would be any different.

The car gets a whole lot lighter once the engine’s out, lol.

And cheap rust free AW11 shell that I’m looking to have shipped over here, lol. I’d hate to live in a place where that’s the only cultural advantage.
