Down on the Campus, that is.

Kinja'd!!!

I noticed this Peugeot 406 Coupe parked lonely in a corner of the parkinglot at university. It’s quite a nice colour actually (in real life it’s a bit brighter than in the picture, the sun had already set). It keeps surprising me how modern these look despite being 14 years old in this case. Luckily I didn’t look at the front, cause being a 2003 car means this one is a facelifted one, which makes the front a less than pretty sight:

Kinja'd!!!

The horror!! Who approved to ruin this Pininfarina masterpiece with that idiotically large grille?

Anyhow, back to the one I saw. I can’t remember seeing one in this colour or with these wheels before, but then again I’m far from a 406 connaisseur. I’m sure our resident 406 Coupe owner duurtlang will correct me if I’m wrong, but those are factory wheels, right?

I do like that blue. The pre-facelift ones are so pretty. I really hope to import one to the US in either blue or red with the light brown leather interior when 25 years is up. (Assuming I have money which who knows.)

Those sure are factory wheels. Not the most common ones and I’m not the biggest fan, but they are different and different is good. I believe they were called Nautilus or something like that, I’m not sure.

That car sure looks better than mine right now, which is currently covered with a layer of salt and grime. Drove it about 2.5-3k km in the last week and a half and haven’t had time to clean it yet. It will look better at the oppomeet next month at the ‘ring, I promise.

It did strike me today that at 17 years it’s among the oldest non-classic cars you see here in Munich. Everyone drives something German and more recent here, apparently.

They are very pretty indeed, and they are from the era just before things went south with Peugeot, so they are quite reliable too.

10/10 would import. Along with a Rover 75.

I agree, different is good. I also think dark grey parts of the wheels are a nice combination with the blue.

That’s a whole lot of kms, luckily your car is grey already, so the salt and grime won’t stand out too much....

Two-tone Rover 75 V8 Tourer is best Rover 75, apart from the fact that the front looks a bit odd, also maybe two-tone is a bit too much, but this was the only decent sized picture of a V8 Tourer.

Kinja'd!!!

Those Rovers are insanely plush on the inside, the first time I was in an early 75 I was completely blown away by that.

that’s the ‘Premium’ front bumper, they are extremely rare

I believe the site from which I borrowed this picture stated this is probably one of the more rare 75's. So if you say that bumper is rare, I believe you immediately.

I could get very weak if a dark grey 406 Coupe with saddle brown leather pops up for sale near me...

Yes they’re very pretty in dark grey, but blue-ish colours also suit it nicely.

Can’t you just get a bumper from the Chinese version and stick it in a UK spec one?

not easily, generally the bumper itself is the easier part to get (still rare), it’s the trim such as that chrome surround is the hardest piece to get hold of

The color of the one you spotted suits the 406 so well.

The blue is great, that redesign was a flater . Those wheels were factory wheels indeed. Either completely silver or partly grey like these. Not a fan. This would be the one for me:

And yes: it aged well. Way better than it’s successor...

My brother in law told me the design of my 406 looks just as good as his (now previous) car. A Hyundai coupe from 2001, the one with the thousand headlights. When he told me I politely smiled. I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

If I were you and was told just that I probably would have cried, laughed and vomited at the same time. You must have ultimate control of your emotions. Superman. Iron Man.

That’s the one with the crashed automatic BRZ, right? I’m curious what he will think of the Twingos and the other shitty cars at the europpomeet.

He drove a rusty 2001 Hyundai Coupe until a few months ago. He’ll be fine. His taste is different from mine, but he’s a legit car guy all right.

He still owns his first car by the way. A red 1985-ish Honda Prelude. Yes, the Bassie & Adriaan one, the exact same version including color and interior, but German plates. Plus a white donor car. Restoration required though (rust!).

That’s awesome, be sure to have him add the yellow dots when he restores it, haha. Though that might look a bit odd to Germans.

Aren’t those the Setant’anni limited edition wheels? Maybe they became part of the regular range with the facelift because I’ve only ever seen Setant’anni pre-facelift models with those wheels.

My exact ideal spec. Without the sunroof because it ruins the lines.

Fellow Opponaut duurtlang owns a 406 coupe in dark grey with red leather interior which isn’t quite as lovely as brown would be.

Yes I’ve had the opportunity of chatting with him about it before. I’m a total sucker for tan and brown leather whatever the car.
