Morphine pumps are more proof that God loves us.

Get well, friend.

“I have no idea yet what my diet will be...”

Doctor Wheelerguy recommends a diet consisting of 100% GT racing. Go on YouTube and search for GTWorld and NISMO TV.

On the positive side, you won’t have to deal with the digestive issues caused by large quantities of narcotics!

Glad to hear you’re on the mend now.

Your diet will mostly be light foods that are easily broken down and digested.

You’ll feel quite a bit of discomfort in the lower abdomen for a while yet and periods of discomfort as the intestines settle down again as they are rather sensitive and don’t like being touched.

But fingers crossed fella it’ll only be a short period and the colostomy bag will be a mere memory.

Hygiene and a good antibacterial regime will play a significant part for a while yet.

You can buy products like Hibiscrub, or similar (which contain chlorohexidine gluconate) from eBay which are surgical grade for washing yourself.

This scares me tremendously. 12 years ago I spent 3 days in the hospital for diverticulitis.

Best wishes for a strong recovery!

My step-brother got the all clear from stomach and intestinal cancer some three months ago and he had a very persistent case that they had to operate for ten hours and do some intensive localised chemo of his abdominal organs by opening him up lifting his intestines which took several weeks to readjust and I used to be an ambulance tech back in the day and infection control is very important.

Your stoma is essentially to allow the area beyond it to heal in it’s own time so while it’s not pleasant, it’s got to be done and I’m positive you can do this fella.
