Just need to iron out that rear window matchup.

At first glance something about this seemed off. I realized it’s because the rear quarter glass matches the outline of the door frame, so it’s taller than the door glass. That keeps freaking me out. Either the door frame needs to be blacked out or the quarter glass needs to match the height of the door glass. That could even be accomplished with a little silver vinyl strip across the top.

$3500 for the kit, Proably at least that for a used police spec Charger, tempting but I’ll pass.

I like where this is going! But “Charger Ute” does not do this thing justice. It needs a proper name. “Rampage”? Nah, those were FWD. Well, it’s gotta be something masculine/aggressive, because Dodge. Hmm...

$7k for a Hemi powered Ute from the last 10ish years?

Sounds extremely entertaining to me.

Ram Charger would make sense in this case.

...with the space between the words, to distinguish it from a truck-based Ramcharger? Hmm, is that distinct enough?

There actually is precedent for calling Chrysler products “Ute” or “Coupe-Utility”.

“Ute” is indeed a commonly-accepted term, but despite the capitalized use of “UTE” in that article, I don’t see anything that indicates that it was part of Dodge’s official terminology. And that’s what I’m trying to imagine. If Dodge had built a genuine Charger-based ute, what would they have called it? Charger Coupe-Utility? Or is that a little too old-fashioned?

I could see it just being the “Dodge Ute” or the “Dodge Charger (or Magnum) Ute” in the Australian market, had they done it 10 years ago.

Maybe drag the Rampage name out even though the last coupe utility it was used on was FWD. Maybe drag out some other trademark that had been languishing - Daytona? Duster?

Actually, you know what? I’m going with Rampage. The Rampage was an L-body, as was the last Dodge Charger .

Yep, they’ve got that covered. Here’s the official pic doing just as you suggest.

I’m guessing they’ll fix it better for production. This is still a prototype.

Actually it will be builder’s choice. The plexi windows we supply will be the size in the picture. The builder can choose to paint a trim piece and put it on the top of the quarter window... or they can choose to paint the side window surround all black. I think the window surround in black will look the best. We rushed the pictures a bit because we were excited, the Charger Ute looks awesome, especially in person.
