Walked out to my GTI this morning and saw the passenger front tire completely deflated. Took the tire off and saw this. $188 for a new tire.

Same thing happened to me this week. I got lucky and it was close enough to the middle to patch though. $2.50 for a patch vs well over $100 for a new tire.

I’ve had one done in just about the same area. It may be possible to do so here. Do you have any Discount Tire locations in the region?

That’s just barely too close to the edge for a plug/patch to not work because of the flex in the tire. Half an inch to the left and you could’ve plugged it.

I’d try getting it patched. Tire looks way too new to throw away.

I get all my rubber fron Tirerack, cause they have that road hazard goodness. Ive have 4 tires replace (different sets) replaced over the last year for free.

I have a screw hole about there in one of my tires. I plugged it, but only after I tried a couple tire shops who didn’t want to work on it. The screw was short so sidewall damage doesn’t seem possible. Flexing could be a problem, but it seems to be holding air just fine. I would of course much prefer to have a proper patch installed instead of DIY string plug thing, but sadly they’d prefer to sell me new tires.

That should be able to be plugged I’ve plugged worse. Can do it yourself with a $5 kit from walmart.

Had a nail in a tire in the same spot. Couldn’t patch it, sold the car.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy a plug kit......you should be fine. One thing about using a plug is that you’ll have to limit your speed to 80-85 mph.....
