The worst ones are the 2000s North American GM ones. They have the EXACT same terrible, fragile PCB with a different shell. These things were complete POS, the battery ring would snap off and the pad would wear out and buttons just start fading. Both my G6 and Solstice had remotes replaced under warranty, and I repaired mine so many times.

At left - fintail key, which is as unusual as the car itself. It should have 2 keys, but the prior owner lost one, and 20 years later I have yet to have it replaced, as I can be lazy. At right, typical modern MB fob, as the car has Keyless-Go, it usually stays in pocket.

Yeah... My transmitters stopped working all together. Started getting intermittent and now nothing. I checked the BCM connecton and the harness wasn’t rubbed through. I played with the Tech2, but couldn’t find anything wrong.

The battery died, and you cannot replace the battery. You have to replace the whole key....
I hope you wrapped your BCM wires under the dash with electrical tape!

Not dead, I have a transmitter checker at work. One I did open and replace the battery even though it was still at 3.0v. Then I re weather sealed it.
I wrapped a part of it in electrical tape and placed a piece of foam on the bracket between it and the wires.
