And it was about time I did, it was down right filthy.

Maybe you could even call it a light Svending, since I cleaned every nook and cranny, though I’m nowhere as skilled as Svend.

Anyhow, some before pictures:

Because it was raining I chose to wash it in a washbox nearby, however that meant I was limited to using the settings of the presurewasher, which doesn’t really include a good soap or foam setting. Also I hate the fact that these washboxes are mainly used by people cleaning their mountainbikes and motocross bikes, making the washbox a mudpit.

Anyhow, it cleaned up nicely, and now it is a whole different white. I did find some new scratches, but I’ve learned to accept them as long as their not too obvious.

Afterwards I drove by my work, just around the corner from the washboxes, for a few pictures:

I hate first gen Twingos with a passion... As much as diesel almost lol (all the times in France I’ve had problem on the roads, Twingos were involved... I even got seriously hit by one as a passenger. Like frontal impact while driving 60kph crash... I avoided many other!!)

But the last two gens... Last gen RS was awesome and considering the configuration of the current gen, the RS should be freaking awesome too...

Great job. My DD is only washed once or twice a year. When I bring it for service at the dealer’s...

Then again... It’s almost March: time to get the fun park out of their hibernation. There will be some cleaning involved!

You just reminded me that I have to clean our car as well. It looks like a mess and my parents don’t even bother. Still worried about any possible negative effects on the stone chip in the windshield.

I guess that tells something about Twingo I drivers, they are so cheap and simple/reliable that people totally not interested in cars or driving drive them.

I just wish mine was an RS, or even a GT for that matter. It’s only a 75hp 1.2 with eco gearing, so it’s a bit slow at higher speeds, it’s still fun to throw around at lower speeds though, and it likes to rev in the lower gears. It’s really a lot more fun than other comparable cars in this segment.

I’m also curious about the new Twingo RS, it really looks like a good base for a fun car. That’s why I want to test drive the new Twingo GT, 110 hp on the rear wheels in a car only weighing 900-ish kg should be fun.

Well, mine looked like a mess because I was way too busy with studying, so I couldn’t bother for a while. Luckily my schedule cleared up a bit, so I’ve got time to bother with this kind of stuff again.

How big is the stone chip? I also had one a few years back (I only had the car for like half a year), which wasn’t really dangerous according to the CarGlass guy. I had them fill it anyway, since it was covered in my insurance anyway.

To be honest, I think I only manage to wash it like 6-8 times a year, but that’s mainly because the colour can handle a bit of dirt without it being obvious.

I suppose the fun cars get washed more than 2 times a year right?

Kinja'd!!!

Not as big as I thought to be honest. I was just curious if washing the car has an effect on the spot lol.

Actually just wanted to wash the car when I remembered that it’s illegal on Sundays in Germany. Ugh.

That’s about the size I had, shouldn’t really be a problem, though depending on the depth it might start cracking at some point.

Wait washing your car is illegal on Sundays in Germany? What year is it?

There were talks here in my town about making it illegal to wash your car at home, due to all the dirt getting into the sewage or something like that, however I’m glad they didn’t pull through with that. I don’t mind washing my car in the wash boxes during winter, but I prefer to do it on the driveway in summer. Because that way I can take as much time as I want, without people going like: ‘Why is that guy with that cheap car spending so much time washing his car? It’s clean already!’

Well, these don’t really go out with bad weather or road conditions so it ain’t that much more. I think I washed the 911 4 times last year.

Every town or village has their own regulations on whether it’s legal or illegal to wash your car in your driveway for the same reasons. Afaik it’s illegal in my town.

Apparently in the 60s lol, it’s Bavaria after all. I could go to a gas station to wash the car but hell no. Some states allow wash boxes and car washes to operate on Sundays but not here.

I always thought that was made up when I went to Germany. Then several German and Polish friends explained it was true and certain other things were illegal on a Sunday.

But then again in many places in Europe it’s illegal to wash your car in the street.

It’s pretty stupid to be honest but as long as your neighbors won’t call the police or you get caught by them nobody cares;). Still very backwards that wash boxes are closed on a Sunday and my state considers it work.

Looking forward to summer and spending more time cleaning the car.

Gotta love a clean Twingo. I spent three years looking after a neighbours black Twingo.

Yeah, me too! It was actually raining a bit when I drove to the washboxes, but I couldn’t stand the sight of a dirty car anymore.

Lol. I can see it now.

“hello police, yes, my neighbour is washing his car. Okay I’ll get my family to safety immediately”.

Or yourself.

“quick! It’s the police. Hide the buckets, pretend your watering the garden, quick Jurgen quick, their coming”. Lol.

I only did Piglet in the cold and wind the other day because she was going in for a service. I couldn’t give the dealership the satisfaction of cleaning my car. I’d never live it own.
