Strathcona is a neighbourhood in either Winnipeg or Edmonton. I don’t remember which. Possibly both I guess.

Both, as well as a neighbourhood in Vancouver

It was a bit of a crap night at work last night so I’m drinking one part scotch whisky to two parts white wine, a variation on the ‘whisky mac’.

How is it? I’m allergic to wine so I’m not sure if that would work well

It certainly has a punch to it and not the most pleasant of tastes.

But I’m out of Guinness and Irish whiskey.

I think I’ll have an Old Speckled Hen next.

Look at that glorious piece of stereo in the background...

On topic though, I miss my local brews more than anything else since I moved to the UK. Just can’t find anything close out here.

That would be this big guy http://oppositelock.kinja.com/got-the-9090db-serviced-1792522751

Oh that’s disappointing. I always think about that when I consider moving out of the city, how far I’d be from all the breweries I love

That is beautiful. Something about analog meters on an amp just get me. I recently picked up a really awesome Sony rig from the early 80's still in it’s original cabinet. Vinyl is making a huge comeback here so there are plenty of shops ready to take all of my money...I mean help build my collection.

Yeah they’re really cool. I think it accentuates how analog it is. Those and the tubes of the Dynaco are very pleasant to look at.

My local Craigslist is full of great old Sansui gear right now and I’m having trouble not buying any. Not like I even have room for more amps or speakers....

Luckily (I think?) moving to an entirely different country has drained my buying fun stuff funds. So I’ll have to stick with my current setup for now. Not that I’m complaining. Matching Sony amp, tuner, and turntable and some great sounding B&W speakers. And my wife lets me keep it in the living room!

Yeah I can’t complain about our setup either. Sansui 9090DB, bi-amping with the ‘59 Dynaco ST-70, Sansui SR-929 of the same age as the 9090, Nikko Beta preamp, and the pair of Infinity Kappa 7.1 Series I. We’d need a much bigger room to justify anything beefier than this.

My dad has an original set of Kappas. Can’t remember the model. Absolutely great sounding speakers, I was reading your post on that Dynaco, would love to try something like that out at some point.
