I read this morning that President Trump is having some difficulty staffing his government and about newly hired people getting immediately sacked because they said “bad” things about Mr. Trump during the campaign. I keep hoping the Republicans will save us from Donald Trump by impeaching him.

We could discuss what “legitimate” entails. In my mind, even Pence is “legitimate,” in that he is a politician. Even Sessions. Their politics are anathema to me, but they know how the government works. Donald Trump is not legitimate, IMHO. We haven’t seen his taxes, so he may just be a giant sham even in the riches department.

I read NYT and WSJ every day. The contrast in tone and coverage is good to see. My brother sends me links to stories in the Washington Post, but WaPo is too overtly liberal. I watched a bit of CNN last night, but too histrionic.
The left has created this mess for itself. Liberal leadership is too elite, too arrogant, too

. They do not allow space, in their discussion frame, for oppressed White people to unpack their experience. Eight years Barack Obama wasted where he could have been trying to connect to those folks. When White folk cry, “But
all
lives matter!” what they are really saying is, “White folk are suffering in this country, too.” And there is zero room inside the liberal frame to discuss that. Fortunately for me, as a (barely) middle class White family, we have some flexibility to sit back and watch the feces hit the fan. Black and Brown folk don’t feel that luxury.

The left is definitely arrogant and elite, but the right really is just the same - they just mask it with attempts at being folksy and populist, which throughout history seems to work. A person is smart, but people are stupid. I don’t see any space in their discussion frame either, and they cry just as much as the reactionary leftist stereotype when they are called out. When it comes to a lot of things, the leadership groups of both sides are very similar. If one looks at it from outside American borders, they don’t see a far right or left, rather slightly different variations on a corporatist theme that continues to monger in war and unsustainable economics no matter who is in office.
I agree that socio-economic position should be used to unite people, not race. The coddled white SJW snowflake set has been force fed a lot of guilt by their often hypocritical boomer mentors, it’s the same way in western Europe too. It’ll take a lot of work to undo that way of thinking. I just hope we don’t have to watch stuff hit the fan for too long - some groups like to vote.
