Kinja'd!!!

I’m an idiot.

Kinja'd!!!

Now that we’ve established that, how stupid would I be to try patching that with a piece of sheet metal and some epoxy?

On the plus side now you can get a fancy aluminum overflow tank...

Is it a recirculating tank or just a puke tank?

Wait to find one in a junk yard. That’s what I did. The filler neck was broke from accident before I got it.

Epoxy it. But first you need to put the drill bit back in the hole so you don’t waste so much epoxy.

Also a clamp and some wood.

You could try a Hippo patch? They are made to fix kayaks and tents to make them water proof. Maybe a cheap fix if you can find them at Walmart or a Camping supply store.

Hahahaha! I bought this car for $140. If I find one in the junkyard, I’ll replace it.

I think it’s just a puke tank. It only has one little hose at the bottom, and the service manual calls it a “Coolant Recovery Resevior”

Ouch! Not gonna lie, I probably would have done the same thing: drill baby drill , then trust myself to go easy on the pressure before breaking through.

Have you ever tried plastic welding before? My local parts store has an airless kit that they keep behind the counter, and all they charged me for was the rods that I used. Pretty sweet.

Possibly. Although I’m not sure how that would hold up to scalding hot coolant.

A clamp and some wood would’ve prevented this as well :)

Good luck, I had serious trouble just trying to seal up my washer fluid reservoir. Whatever reason plastic weld and pvc cement don’t really stick to this crap. Make one out of an old bottle or something.

Yeah, that’s precisely what happened :)

That sounds amazing! I’ll have to look into that.

Just checked their specs, they say up to 158 degrees Fahrenheit, so probably not.

Here’s a quick video explaining the process. Fortunately, your application doesn’t have to be pretty, it just needs to be watertight. You won’t be able to access the inside of the tank, but maybe you can stitch it back together good enough to hold.
