Just signed my acceptance for a new job.

Graduating with a Chemical Engineering degree at the end of April and get to stay here in Cincinnati. Just accepted an offer for what is honestly my dream job at this stage in my career. It’s a good day.

Porsche for your time:

What are you doing? Consulting or working for a chemical/petrol company?

Congrats! Hopefully it will be a good fit for you / you will be a good fit. I didn’t have good experiences with Corporate America

Cool! My wifes uncle is a chem-e in New Hampshire, he spent a good Porto of his career inventing ways to turn Teflon into sheets, roles and other various shapes. I’m a Civil so it’s all about dirt, steel, water, poop, and concrete.

You being a civil engineer means I get to tell this joke:

So, a mechanical, chemical, and civil engineer are out drinking and having a discussion. They begin talking about God and humanity, and they think that God must be some sort of engineer. Discussion quickly turns to what kind of engineer God must be.

“Well, God must be a mechanical engineer!” proclaims the mechanical engineer. “The way that the body moves, with all the muscles and tendons, it proves that he must have the kind of mindset that a mechanical engineer has in order to make that all work.”

“No way!” shouts the chemical engineer. “All of that happens because of chemical processes. The way the body turns foods into energy and uses chemicals in order to expand in size and repair itself are things only a chemical engineer would be able to do.”

The civil engineer sits for a moment, and thinks over the arguments her colleagues have made.

“You’re both wrong, God would have to be a civil engineer,” says the civil engineer. “I mean, who else would run waste disposal through a pleasure area?”

Good week for us ChemEs!

What car are you going to buy?

Good guess, but they are more consumer products. My company basically makes the color to add to a customer’s product, to then sell.

Didn’t see your post until I checked on here today, congrats to you too! I’ve been thinking about how your search has been going when applying to jobs since we’re both ChemE’s searching. Your time unemployed has definitely been worse, I’m glad it’s all working out for you.

Not sure yet, I’m kind of torn between getting a car and getting a Tacoma/Colorado and a new bike to replace what I have. If I do get a car, I definitely want something RWD/Manual. Not sure if coupe or 4 door, but normally I sway towards 4 door. I have a few things in mind and some good money saved up.

I’ve had two years of experience doing co-op rotations, some good some bad. It has shaped what I want out of my career and this position is it, so hopefully it goes well.

That sounds awesome! I have done some similar work at one of my old co-op jobs, but this one is a bit more chemical based. I’m looking forward to it.

Don’t get a job in oil, and thanks I’m glad it’s over.

Get something you will enjoy. I always wanted a 4 door M3, so that’s what I got and I couldn’t be happier. I had the windows down today and that V8 is intoxicating at WOT.

Yeah those are two big ones, there’s also some big chemical companies and a few food. There’s honestly a lot here that’s why I wanted to stay. I’m in color I guess you could say. I make color additives for other companies to put in their products. We serve about 15-20 different markets.
