Well Piglet goes in for her first service tomorrow, it was originally supposed to be next Friday.

It was a little cold and windy but I couldn’t let Piglet go in dirty.

I wouldn’t do that to her, or give them the satisfaction.

They are coming to pick her up tomorrow as when I phoned to see if I could pop in with her, they said there was a recall. I checked with Skoda U.K., there is no recall whatsoever, but if they’re going to come for her and drop her up, fine.

Anyway. Curry time.

Chicken Madras, steamed rice, bombay potatoes and onion bhajis.

Kinja'd!!!

Oh and some beer/s. ;)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sedan with a wiper on the rear windscreen like that.

Both of those look good, the car and the lunch.

That clamshell hood design is still one of the best details I’ve ever seen in car design. I completely fell for this car at the Škoda Muzeum.

It’s a no cost option.

She’s a five door hatchback/liftback.

Ye’, we love curry in the U.K.

There are two national dishes, one being the traditional fish, chips and mushy peas, the other being chicken tikka masala.

Did you tell the dealership to not wash it?

They know not to.

A note goes on the job sheet, a letter gets attached to the steering wheel and one of these gets hung from the rear view mirror.

When the old girl went in for her first service. I moved the chair in the showroom up to the door to make sure nobody went near her with a, well anything.

While I sat there I saw a ‘sponge monkey’ take a wet sponge from a single bucket, run it over the drivers door, then put it in the bucket, then clean the front wheel, back to the bucket and then clean the front wing as if that wasn’t bad enough, the guy then wiped over the area with a nearly dry chamois (who still uses a chamois?), oh ye’, after dropping it on the floor.

If that’s how they clean their own cars on the forecourt, they certainly ain’t touching Piglet.

Wow, that’s efficient!

The time I tell them “DON’T WASH MY CAR”, they wash it and make it twice as bad with a poor wash job and they let the water dry on.

The dealership knows me as ‘the guy that won’t let us wash his car’.

Which I’m happy to be known as.

Both times we’ve bought new cars from them, they’ve been told, ‘when the car gets delivered to the dealership, do not wash it, PDI it but do not wash it’. So each time, as soon as I’ve picked them up, I’ve taken them home and spent the next four or six hours washing, prepping and sealing them.

The day we got them, post clean.

They really nailed the proportions on this one. I’m from Poland, so I’m very partial to Skodas, I’m happy that there’s some Slavic country that’s “made it” in that department

Skoda may be owned by VW, but they always do nice little touches, practical touches. Such as umbrellas in the doors, three 12v outlets (one up front, one in the rear of the centre console and one in the boot), a rechargeable and removable LED torch that has a magnet (say to attach to the car to light up the area for when changing a tyre), ice scrapper in the fuel filler door, etc... Just loads of little touches that add up to a great package.

Awesome. I’d only heard about the umbrella. I guess modern Skodas always were Volkswagens, but just a lot better. Not to mention they’re nailing styling right now as well.

In the Mk2 Superb there was one umbrella in the rear passenger side (on both LHD and RHD cars). In the Mk3 there are two, one in each front door.

Unfortunately, Skoda are going ahead with this for the Octavia.

The split headlights are one thing, but the split DRLs, no.

Yeah, not sure where they were going with the new Octavia. I still dig it though.

That trunk reminds me of my brother. He’s got a big basket full of car care stuff that he takes everywhere. Gotta keep your ride clean
