Recipe says to coat them in cooking spray before applying cinnamon and sugar. It then offers using butter as alternative. Definitely shoulda used butter. I don’t know if my wife just bought cheap cooking spray or what, but they came out with a distinct oily/chemical taste while also really drying them out. Will fix next time.

They look good though!

See if you can find a good buñuelo recipe. Very tasty!

Oh, man. When I was a kid, I would take a flour tortilla, slather it in butter, sprinkle on cinnamon and sugar, roll it up tight, and microwave it for about 15 seconds.

OOOOOOOHOWAAAAAH YES

I’ve made chips from corn tortillas. Just fry them in some olive oil for a few and your good

Is there cooking spray that doesn’t taste weird? I don’t know, I pretty much always use butter.

Some vanilla ice cream might save them. Ice cream saves everything.

I like to think that it’s only a culinary disaster if you can’t fix it with ketchup. I guess ice cream works too. :P

I deep fry on my stove with an enameled cast iron dutch oven and a candy thermometer, like this:

Using the cast iron instead of a regular pot like in this picture gives a steadier temperature because it holds on to heat more than a standard pot.

I also have a digital meat thermometer that I could use for this purpose of I got a little clip for the probe like on the left in this pic:

(They’re using a dutch oven in this pic, it’s the best move for stove top deep frying.)

Be prepared for your house to smell like grease afterwards. I have a good air purifier and it still happens.

Ours is “butter flavor” so I thought I was good...
