There’s a rustling/tapping sound in the walls and it’s been happening for about a day now. Any idea what it is and how I can make it stop? It woke me up last night and I’m NOT looking forward to trying to sleep tonight.
Sometimes the sound sounds like something flapping it’s wings, kind of sounds like it could be a bird. I would normally assume its a mouse or something, but I don’t hear any squeaks.

what time of day?........could be squirrels or racoons. money on squirrels. squirrels dont do much moving at night. but right at sun up, or sun down get very active. they usually have 9 pups per litter. so find out quick. they can have babies every 45-ish days.........

My money is on rats. I used to have a hole in the eaves of my house, and I could watch them coming and going at night. I called an exterminator, who closed up the hole. I don’t know what ever became of the rats. We put some traps in the attic, but they never caught anything. I would call an exterminator for an estimate on removal. In the meantime, try to figure out how critters might be getting in from the outside. You can have a company come out and do an “exclusion” treatment, where they go around and close up all openings, put mesh over external vents and pipes, and find openings you might miss. But of course, that costs money.

could be bats too. almost forgot about them. they stop moving at sun up, and find a place to settle in, and at evening get real active when they leave. youre gonna want to check around the house, and see if you can find where the critter is getting in at, and see if it gives some clues....... hopefully its not your neighbors escaped termite colony.........

We now have two, one is really loud and I can hear and the other is just slightly hear.
note; I don’t own the particular one above, just a photo to recommend what I would look for.

I called my local pest control and they said they aren’t really effective unless you pay a large amount of money for em, but I’m going to talk to my landlord and see what to do.
