Interesting looking little car I’d never heard of before today (Thanks Quora). It might look a little better if it was a tad longer, but overall it’s not bad. I dig the color. It’s probably a crude piece of crap, but whatever - I liked the ‘80s VW Fox, especially the wagon, so I’m not exactly one to define crap when it comes to inexpensive VWs.

Reminds me a lot of the compact e36 my old neighbour had. Is it based off of something else? Otherwise I’d assume the build quality would be up to a certain standard.
Side note: I discovered Quora a couple weeks ago, and have been visiting pretty often. Good site with plenty of experiences from all sorts of people.

It looks like that because of India’s tax based on the length of the car so sub 4 meters have less tax than 4.1 meter cars. That is a Polo with a trunk which if you don’t have length based tax it looks much better:
Also, like the US, Indians like sedan’s so no matter how small the car is, it needs a sedan version.

It’s designed for the developing countries, particularly Indian market so they can skirt a 4 metre tax rule. The build quality might be lower to reduce costs, and it doesn’t have to meet very strict regulations - though I guess it should do its job pretty well.

I didn’t know there was a current Polo sedan, I certainly haven’t ever seen one. The one in your picture doesn’t even look as horrible as I had expected from a sedan in that segment. I still wouldn’t even consider a sedan that size though.

This is one of my pet peeves. Adding butts to hatchbacks to sell them as “sedans”. This is everywhere in India/Asia. It completely messes up the proportions. They seem to pick designers/engineers from a beginners pottery class, who tend to smack a metallic bubble on the back and call it a day.
For example, here’s a regular Suzuki Swift.

Now look at this fucking abomination - the Swift Dzire. The spelling alone “gave me cancer”

And so far, I gave VW a concession. Although they did the same thing with the VW Polo/Vento, the Vento is well proportioned and looks like an actual sedan.
But then, they come out with this butt enhanced mutant, to place between the Polo and Vento. *shakes head and curses*.....

So i didn’t bother scrolling down but yeah. Vento is definitely a better “sedan” because it’s correctly proportioned.
Tax or no tax, that car butt the half butt is an abomination.
