Kinja'd!!!

From a friend of mine: “My brother rescued a live rabbit from an engine compartment yesterday, customer drove 2 hours to get the check engine light looked at, chewed wires and one live rabbit. That rabbit’s new name is lucky and not just a foot. Had it not been, the name would have been Hasenpfeffer.”

Apparently this actually happens in the real world!

They frequently eat wires on cars parked at the Denver airport.

When our GMC motor home was parked over the winter we’d usually leave the floor access to the engine open since something always needed fixed. Sometimes you’d walk past and see a neighborhood cat asleep on the dash.

Kinja'd!!!

I had problems with squirrels in my driveway getting into my engine bay.

I realized it was because of a few hawks that had moved into the park across the street.

That would do it. We’ve lost a couple of our chickens to hawks. Normally we let the birds free range our yard during the day (free lawn mowing!) but we kept them locked up for a while once the hawk found them.

If a rabbit had been chompin at my wiring loom, you had better believe we would be having stew at my house.

Interesting... silly rabbit! At least it ended well for that bunny; the jackrabbit in my story didn’t fare so well.

We were driving across highway 50 in Utah approaching the Nevada state line when a jackrabbit decided to end it all by jumping in front of the Mustang. We were travelling at an *ahem* exuberant rate of speed, and brer rabbit contacted the bumper on the right, just missing the wheel. It made a heck of a racket and tore up the areo/rock guard piece that runs from side-to-side directly behind the bumper, as well as messing up a trim piece at the bottom of the bumper (ie “splitter” although it isn’t big enough to do anything). You can see the point of impact at the lower left corner of the picture, as well as cracks in various places elsewhere:

Silly rabbit cost me nearly $300 in parts, but at least they were easy to swap out.

Oof! I wouldn’t expect a rabbit to do that much damage. But F=ma, so at an *ahem* exuberant rate of speed, there’s a lot of “a” despite the low “m,” resulting in a large “F.”

Let’s just say that if the jackrabbit would have had a flux capacitor on his back, the “a” that was imparted to his furry little body would have sent him back to the future...

I think we can all agree that bunny is a bunny, not a chicken or duck. :)
